Blanket tests with neutron, blanket neutronics experiments, are of essential importance for verifying tritium production and recovery, as well as heat generation and recovery. These verifications must be quantitative; therefore, it is essential to have precise providing radiation transport analysis and measurement methods in advance.
Neutron source such as the d-Li neutron source produces neutrons above 20 MeV and a tail of neutrons below 1 MeV due to its reaction process; therefore, its transport processes and tritium production processes differ from those of a DT neutron source. Furthermore, for intense neutron sources such as DONES, it is necessary to examine in advance the measurement methods for neutrons and tritium, as well as for neutron and gamma radiation.
Based on some past experience with blanket neutronics experiments using DT neutron sources, the presenter will propose issues and approaches for blanket neutron engineering experiments using d-Li neutron sources such as DONES.
