Welcome to the 1st Workshop on Liquid Metal Applications for Fusion Technology (LMfT-1)
We are pleased to invite you to the 1st Workshop on Liquid Metal Applications to Fusion Technologies and in particular for IFMIF-DONES facility — a new forum dedicated to the scientists, engineers, and technologists working on the development, implementation, and testing of liquid metal systems for present DONES facility and future fusion facilities.
The workshop aims to gather the growing community engaged in liquid metal research, addressing topics such as fluid dynamics, magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), corrosion and compatibility, safety, Impurity control, and operational experience in liquid metal-relevant environments.
Organized under the auspices of CIEMAT and esDONES, they encourage to other reserach centers to contribute to this comunity.
Your oral presentations, posters, and discussions will be crucial in advancing the understanding and application of liquid metals — from their role as breeder and coolant materials in fusion blankets, to their use in target systems and advanced diagnostics.
With IFMIF-DONES entering its construction phase, and ITER in the path to finalize the construction in the comming years, this workshop will provide a timely platform to connect experimental, modeling, and design efforts aimed at integrating liquid metal technologies into fusion research infrastructures. It will also foster collaboration among experts developing Li, PbLi, and Ga-based systems, sharing insights into design, operation, safety, and material interaction challenges
